Where should teachers be entered in LENA Online?
Center-based teachers: Add to Room Profile
Center-based teachers should be entered in the Room Profile for any room in which they are participating in coaching. By being included on the Room Profile, a teacher can complete the Teacher Perceptions survey and work toward LENA Grow Teacher certification.
Center-based teachers usually do not have standard LENA Online user accounts, because they do not need to access LENA Online or Hub. All data management, reports, and device processing are managed by the LENA Grow coach.
Family child care providers: Add to Room Profile, maybe add as users
FCC-based teachers should be entered in the Room Profile for their FCC groups in order to complete the Teacher Perceptions survey and work toward LENA Grow Teacher certification.
Family child care providers sometimes have standard LENA Online user accounts, if the program needs them to upload devices from their child care home.
The FCC provider will not need an account to accomplish uploading if the LENA Hub has been set up with login disabled. Considerations regarding this setting:
- The coach or another LENA Online user would need to log into Hub to turn off the login requirement.
- This configuration eliminates the assignment confirmation step where the user verifies that the name on the screen matches the name on the device, so it's best for groups with fixed recorder assignments.
- Ideally, the coach should assist with at least the first day of uploads, under his/her login, to ensure that all of the assignments and labels are in alignment.
