Add a caregiver with texting number or email for online Snapshots
Add a caregiver to an existing child's record in order to provide the link for the online Snapshot via text message or email.
1. Open the child's Participant record.
Caregivers are managed from within the related child's participant screen. If you've just finished adding the child, simply click his or her name in the participant list.
(Otherwise select the appropriate group in the context menu, expand the Admin menu, choose Participants, and select the child from the list.)
2. Add Caregiver information.
On the individual child's screen:
- Select the Caregivers tab.
- Click on the New Caregiver button.
- Enter the requested information on the new caregiver screen.
- Name: Parent’s or Caregiver’s name
- Relationship: How related to child
- Preferred Language: Determines language used for text messages and reports.
-
Texting Number: Telephone number at which Caregiver can receive text messages.
- Must be a smartphone number for Online Snapshot completion.
- Each texting number must be unique, and each can only be associated with one child.
- Email: Enter an email address if you'll be sending online Snapshot links via email instead of by text.
When you save a caregiver record with a textable number, the caregiver will immediately receive a welcome text from LENA Online.
It's a good idea to let the caregiver know this will happen so they don't accidentally opt out of texting. If they do, they will have to opt back in from that phone in order to continue receiving text from LENA Online.
3. Click Submit.
Repeat step 2 for any additional caregivers for the same child.
A child can have as many caregivers as appropriate for general communication, but the Snapshot link will be sent only to the caregiver who is marked as primary.
The first caregiver entered will be automatically set as the primary caregiver, but you can change this designation by clicking on the star next to the caregiver who should be primary. The filled-in, blue star indicates primary, and that person floats to the top of the list.
